Since 1947, Brazil has joined in 50 UN peacekeeping operations, involving 57,700 military & civilian personnel. From 2004 to 2017, Brazil commanded the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti, to where more than 37,000 troops were sent to restore order and provide humanitarian aid.

Another outstanding example of the Brazilian efforts as an UN-appointed peacekeeper; from 2011 to 2021, our country led the UN Maritime Task Force to restore peace and security in Southern Lebanon. Around 4,000 Brazilian troops have been deployed in the operation successfully.

Since 2015, Brazil leads the UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with 13,000 multinational troops, under Brazilian Lt General Marcos de Sá Affonso da Costa. Today, Brazil also acts in UN missions in Cyprus, Central African Republic, Western Sahara, Sudan.
