The OECD Council unanimously decided to invite Brazil to start on the path towards formal organization membership. Brazilian accession, as part of the expansion of the OECD, will further strengthen the Organization, increasingly important for a sound economic system.

Brazil is fully in line with OECD's core values, expressed in Organization’s 60th Anniversary New Vision Declaration and the 2021 Council Ministerial Declaration, such as upholding free market, democracy, economic modernization and protection of the environment and human rights.

Joining the OECD will bring competitiveness and dynamism to the Brazilian economy, meaning new investments and business opportunities, more income and employment, and the improvement of public policy formulation processes and the country's economic and social statistics.

Brazil has already adhered to 103 out of 251 normative instruments, mostly in this government. Said instruments regard the rule of law, market economy, war on corruption, protection of human rights and liberties, and will lead to a more politically and economically stable Brazil.
